Show Notes

Dr. Adhi Two Owls is a practicing Shaman, artist and healer. Her work and research focuses on sacred tools and the sciences used for transformation. Adhi works to inspires communities to come together and create a better world.  “I was already into nature. I was always in to feeling things, I knew there was something about trees and the world around me was vibrant and alive.” Adhi started out by channeling these feelings through art because she never had a way of explaining how she felt. After attending the best art school in the country, Adhi realized it wasn’t art that fulfilled her so she set on a journey to find why she was here on this planet. Ahdi met a woman who became her first teacher and led her to the Shamanic rattle. Adhi uses the rattle as part of her continual studies in shamanism and way of life. Society today is built for people to conform to our societal norms, but for a child it is acceptable to go in to the world of dreams and imagination. “The process of being shaken up out of this norm that we begin to see there is something outside of that.” Part of what Adhi does is addressing self-hatred. She wants to heal this guilt that we have of being undeserving; that feeling that Western spiritual tradition has instilled in us. “If we learn something enough we actually embody that; it becomes who we are.” There are many different types of rattles that can be used for different types of healing or clearing purposes. The rattles are made from animal rawhide; a common material to use is elk skin, which represents stamina, strength, endurance and sexuality. However, what is inside the rattle determines that sound that the rattle makes and accomplishes different things.  A softer sound Adhi uses more for healing or journeying; a harder, more thunderous sound is used for clearing purposes. Adhi explains the effect that Shamanism can have on our planet how they can all help make the connections. “We are at a point right now where human beings really need to get it together. I think it is really important to Shamans in whatever capacity we work in to really begin to make those connections.” It isn’t only about healing individuals but communities. Waking people up to what is going on. Adhi heals her community by holding healing circles and reoccurring gatherings. “[People] are so afraid to be authentic I think there is a myth that being in bliss and happiness that we should all be happy but we need a safe and sacred spaces for people to come into where they can be in their grief; they can be in their place of transformation, that’s part of the medicine work.” To listen on Itunes & subscribe to The Wellness Show click here To listen on New Media Radio Network click here To listen on Google Play sign into your google account and click here To bookmark RSS feed click here To subscribe to Stitcher click here  LINKS: www.TheNewGlobalShaman.com adhizen@gmail.com Tel: 267-884-4252
