Our guest on The Wellness Show is the developer and facilitator of Archetypal Nature, Gary Bobroff. Gary explains what archetypes are and how they have significance and meaning in our lives.
Gary's interest in archetypes started 20 years ago with his first personal growth workshop. It spoke to him of the patterns underneath our awareness that influence why we act like we do. Underneath our awareness, patterns define who we are. Fascinated by this concept, he went on and studied further. The archetypes in sense of consciousness between conscious mind and subconscious. Collective unconscious states that there are these archetypal forms and patterns that we all share. The same archetypes from before until now. We have universal collective patterns. Archetypes are different energy patterns inside us. In a family, one kid may be sporty, one may be academic, one may be a rebel, one may just fit with family. Our innate personality is informed by these forces inside us called archetypes; they are energies that are the stamp of our character. Different patterns are stamped on us on birth. - Gary Bobroff Identity and fulfillment can help define which archetype you fall in. There are four different essential archetypes. The ones that speak to you the most are going to define whether it's most important to you. The urgency to connect within your life. We can use archetypes to figure out why we have tensions in culture, tension in families. why we are the way we are. - Gary Bobroff Understanding archetypes will help us understand our story better and to appreciate and understand others as well. These differences in who we are in a very profound level lead to us not liking people that are different from us. We're unconscious of it and when we get conscious of it we can say, oh I see I'm getting their identity in a different way and I’m getting my identity in my way. So we can be accepting and understanding and get beyond being judgemental and not liking other people. - Gary Bobroff Masculine Forms Warrior - More on doing, achieving, goal oriented. Sage - More on understanding Father/Mother or King Queen -people oriented toward the collective. Collective family, workgroup. They are emotionally invested in their tribe. Seeker & Companion- They tend to answer the question “Who am I”. Interested in personal growth. Inclined in authenticity and intimacy. Crown - Know who they are. Know what they want. Get their identity from collective. Feminine Forms Amazon - Like Warrior Mediatrix - Like Sage, woman knows through the unconscious who knows about knowing why. Archetype is inherent pattern of behavior and motivation. If you understand why people have this behavior and motivation you can understand them and support them, be less reactive. - Gary Bobroff Learning about archetypes can transform your life and help you accept yourself and other people, as well as help you understand yourself and understand and accept others too.
