Ellie Savoy is a Board Certified Holistic Health Coach and the author of the #1 international best selling book “Stop Dieting Start Living: 5 Foundations for Your Health to Permanently Lose Weight Without Dieting Starvation of Suffering in Silence.” She is also the founder of the Stop Dieting Start Living Weight Loss System. Her common sense and step-by-step approach has literally transformed the way people look at their body, health and life. Ellie was a yo-yo dieter for over 25 years, trying all different diets and systems to try and lose weight. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Uterine Fibroids, which led her to choose a path of nutrition and health. Previously Ellie’s nutrition history was sporadic, only taking care of herself when her body got worn down, but she realized with her health problems a lifestyle change was needed. “I love to teach it so much and help others find their freedom because there are so many people struggling with this problem. The dieting industry is worth over sixty billion dollars and there is so many quick fixes; it just keeps people stuck.” Ellie says common sense is always the best course of action when it comes to getting healthy. Things have to be done gradually, to take steps towards having something that lasts. She talks about cleansing and how a 3-5 day cleanse is better than a long cleanse which would have to be closely monitored. When cleansing, the first drink of the day for Ellie is normally a juice, with apple, cucumber, lemon, ginger, swiss chard and more. She will then do blends, which holds the fiber compared to juices. In total, it’s six drinks per day, which could include a smooth soup. When it comes to exercise, it is important to have a variety of classes or programs that you do to make sure you do not get bored. Ellie’s workouts last 45 minutes to one hour. When changing your lifestyle, being honest with yourself is critical. Ellie says we tend to pretend things are fine with our health. However, once we realize they are not is when we need to change it. “It is difficult to face it, it is difficult to own it because it means for many that we are wrong and it is not about being right or wrong, it is about awareness.” Thinking of things as nutritious or non-nutritious helps us to better be aware of making the best decision. Ellie looks back and says that her diagnosis was a blessing; if she had not been diagnosed she would not have taken her health seriously and changed her lifestyle. “Take self responsibility and stop the excuses and stop putting everything and everybody else before yourself.” To listen on Itunes & subscribe to The Wellness Show
